Cookie Policy

Last updated: August 31, 2026

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small files that websites store on your device. We use a minimal set, only what's needed to make the Service work and improve it.

2. Types of cookies we use

2.1 Essential: required for the Service to work — sign-in, security, basic functionality. These cannot be disabled.

  • Supabase auth tokens: tokens that keep you signed in
  • Session cookies: deleted when you close your browser
  • CSRF tokens: protect against cross-site request forgery

2.2 Functional: remember your preferences — language, theme, font size. Disabling these means settings reset every visit.

These cookies remember your preferences to provide a personalized experience.

  • Language: remembers your selected interface language
  • Theme: light, sepia, or dark reading theme
  • Reading progress: stores your last position in a book (per device)
  • UI state: sidebar collapsed/expanded, active tab, font size

2.3 Analytics: anonymous usage statistics so we can understand which features are useful and which need work. You can opt out.

  • Analytics: anonymous usage statistics so we can understand which features are useful and which need work. You can opt out.: Anonymous usage statistics to help us improve the Service

We currently use minimal first-party analytics. If we add third-party analytics (e.g., Google Analytics, Plausible), we will update this policy and request consent where required.

3. Third-party cookies

Some cookies are set by third-party services we use:

  • Supabase: Authentication and session management
  • Stripe: Secure payment processing (only on payment pages)
  • Google OAuth: When you sign in with Google

4. How to manage cookies

  • Block all cookies
  • Delete existing cookies
  • Block third-party cookies only
  • Session cookies: deleted when you close your browser

Note: What happens if you disable cookies

5. Local Storage and IndexedDB

We use browser local storage to:

  • Cache book content for faster reading (so you can read offline briefly)
  • Save your reading position between page loads
  • Store TTS (text-to-speech) audio cache

You can clear this data via your browser's developer tools or by clearing site data.

6. Do Not Track

We honor Do Not Track (DNT) browser signals. When DNT is enabled, we disable non-essential cookies and analytics.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notification.
